Anaerobic Digestion

AD (Anaerobic Digestion) is powered by feedstock/waste such as food waste and/or sewage and is a viable alternative to fossil derived fuels and fracking.

In October 2014 AGE Renewables, the Renewable Energy division of Andrew Garner Electrical Contractor Ltd signed an agreement with QUBE Renewables to become a UK distributor for their range of micro anaerobic digesters. This enables us to design, supply, install and maintain their full range of micro digesters, each one bespoke to the client's needs.

QUBE have developed the quickQUBE, bioQUBE, and powerQUBE – robust modular anaerobic digesters providing a compact solution for processing smaller volumes of feedstock and wastes with integrated CHP generators for heat and power generation. Initially designed with the MOD for containerised use in war zones they have now been redesigned offering small scale waste/energy solutions to individual clients. QUBE's design technology is to make everything quick to install, modular and expandable and so make them more cost effective to the smaller business or community scheme. Average payback for a unit is between 5-7 years, and can earn you a 20 year energy generation subsidy through the Feed In Tariff (FIT) and renewable heat incentive (RHI)

More recently QUBE have developed the new lagoonQUBE, a flexible removable cover that operates as a digester, floating on a lagoon or open top tank to collect biogas and rainwater.

With nearly 20 years in the AD business working on large scale AD projects Mark Clayton of QUBE has developed small modular AD units for individual clients such as farmers, food manufacturers, breweries and many more companies where waste is created as a by-product. Biodegradable wastes used as a feedstock in anaerobic digestion can be used to produce energy in the form of biogas that can then be used to generate electricity and heat as well as producing fertilizer. Unlike solar and wind, AD does not rely on the elements; as long as the digester is fed the waste it can produce full power 24/7.

Grants and loans are available including FIT's for electric and RHI for heat. For more information visit www.biogas-info.co.uk/
